My daughter's boyfriend has a pit bull. I don't like pit bulls because they can be vicious and untrustworthy, in my opinion. The amount of muscle and strength this dog has is scary. However, she's a real sweetheart. She's gentle, calm (except when she first comes into my house, then she goes crazy with excitement) and very well-natured. Other dogs, cats, kids, nothing bothers her. I pity the person that ever poses the slightest threat to my daughter. It would be real ugly.

With that being said, I've refused the favor to watch her for a day or two while they go out of town. I don't want to clean up dog piles out of the yard and worry about her peeing in the house, which she does at home on occasion. Plus I don't want to leave her in the house alone if we step out. Raising a bunch of kids was enough. I'm retired from the caretaking business forever. Dog and kid visits are fine, as long as they leave.

Now get off my lawn.

I've been around a lot of great pit bulls. It all depends on how they are raised.

I'd much rather have dogs than kids. Kids cost too much, they talk back and are constantly disappointing their parents. Dogs are always happy, (at least mine are) and all they want is food, water, a comfortable dog bed and some belly rubs. As far as the dog piles go, I pay my niece $10 every 2 weeks to shovel them up.
