That's the thing.  We traded Eugene Monroe because we wanted to move Luke Joeckel to LT.  And that should be a lesson to all of us, to be careful with moves like that.  It's easy to say, let Cam just walk in free agency, he sucks, blah blah blah.  But until you have a better player to replace him, it might be wise to franchise the guy for one year and see what comes along.  Meyer said this is not a good year to be looking for a LT.  I think that's why they franchised Cam.  They didn't want to take the chance that if they let him walk, they would wind up with someone worse.

And besides, we still don't know the future at LT.   They just didn't want to let our starting LT walk away and leave a hole there.

Then Meyer is an idiot. He retained the worst O-Line coach in the NFL, so we already know that he knows nothing about judging the O-Line. This is the best LT class in the last 5 years. What if we wait until next year and Robinson continues not to improve? What if next year's draft class goes back to what it was in 2019 when the entire class sucked? Then what do we do? Our window would be shrinking. If Lawrence is as good as advertised, we have a window of about 4 years before he demands Dak Prescott type money. Then, we're really gonna struggle to get good pieces around around him and stay under the cap. We have to get this right asap. 

You guys are so gun shy about getting someone worse, because of our past, that you are willing to settle for subpar players. That's no way to build a winning team. You have to take some minimal risk and replacing a subpar player with someone new is about as low risk as it gets. It's not like we're trying to replace an effective starter, we're replacing an OT that isn't even average.
