If he really was sold on keeping Cam, he would have given him a long term contract. Actions speak louder than words.

Sure he wants to keep Cam for a long time if he goes out and performs up to his potential.

I think we all would.

I expect him to say he's our best option and let it die. Not that he wants him around for a long time. Meyer said nothing about "as long as he performs up to his potential." That would be a different narrative. Instead, he was basically praising him for what he has already done, which is nothing. That's a very disheartening message to send to fans. It makes us lose confidence in Meyer's ability to evaluate players.

Franchising Cam allows to go BAP @ 25 instead of handcuffing us with some bum OT that can't even play LT

Could you even name 10 OT prospects in this draft without looking them up? I doubt it. You wouldn't know who's a bum and who isn't.
