I understand this trade but I am still dissapointed as I sort of see it as one more positon to sort now. If we had been further ahead I don't think  Monroe would have left but considering we are absolute rubbish at the mo I think Monroe would have left in FA so i reckon this is a good trade, simply as it gets us something for next to nothing.

 

Nonetheless the rg suddenly becomes a primary positon of need again which I hoped was finally fixed long term.

 

It also suggests to me that caldwell has completely abandoned this season (fair enough) and is now moving on completely. The good news is I reckon he now has a more definitive timeframe for the rebuild in mind and so does not see these older players as part of his long term vision. I think we could now see a firesale with alualu, lewis, poz and mjd all hitting the trade block and leaving for low round picks with poz perhaps hitting a 2nd.

 

Fair enough but it means even assuming bridgewater is the best talent since luck we are in danger of ruining another pick with a young and talent depleted roster especially at the line, where we will probably have 3 rookie/ udfa guards, a 2nd year lt and a rookie/fa right guard.  I reckon he like gabbert will spend most of his first year on his [BLEEP], which is all well and good and I hope he is mentally stronger than gabbert and can handle it but do you want to take that risk... we cannot afford to bust another first round qb pick

 

However we now, to my mind need (assuming there is no firesale), qb (not ditching on gabbert but realistically with these performances and us having top 3 pick you cannot ignore teddy or the plethora of qb talent in this draft) rb rg, g,g, c, wr3/4 all need upgrading on offense whilst, dt, de1, olb, olb, cb fs and you could even argue could all do with an upgrade leaving us with 12 postions to sort with 10 picks.

 

Though it's feasibly possible using low priced fa's and rookies, creating a young roster means mistakes and a long turn around time til we hit 8 and 8 let alone the playoffs
