This is why I said the weight loss was an indirect consequence of jaw surgery: It was not the surgery itself, but the lack of solid food afterward, causing him to lose weight. Surgery > can't open mouth > liquid diet only > weight loss. So weight loss was a direct consequence of the liquid diet, not the surgery itself.
