The scholarship should give a bonus if you want to go into a STEM major. I think it was/is capped if you want to go to a private school, while the public schools were 100% or 75% (some % #). So give a bonus % to cover books or tie it to a bonus after graduating and working in Florida in the field for X years. Allow choice and if the woke idiots want to study meaningless degrees let them waste their free money.

As far as there being a disadvantage, that has nothing to do with race ... unless you want to say different races have different IQs and I thought we moved past that. It is all based on the values you are born into. You have parents who don't care and don't make school a focus, you will also not focus on school except for the rare individuals who early in life see they need education to pull themselves out of the cycle. It also isn't really an income issue, although it is related.

It is very fair across the board, except that the disadvantaged kids may actually be the ones that go to college prep schools. It is GPA based, so if you go to a harder school and you are borderline you may lose the scholarship while you probably could have had 100% at a regular high-school. I'm sure no one wants to talk about that though because it benefits those privileged kids.
