Mind you, that was back in 1980ish when we didn't have other media outlets telling us otherwise. We also did not recognize Ho Chi Mihn City as their capital. We only knew of Saigon as being the capital of South Vietnam. The sad thing of it all is that we lost countless soldiers and Vietnam probably ended up better off as they are a united, moderately socialist country, that is growing in a mildly prosperous manner. Oh, we spent most of our history class studying how the North kicked the South's [BLEEP] in the Civil War. |
