I don't think you're giving the average person enough credit. I do think that is what most conservatives are referring to when they say the deep state. Entrenched bureaucrats that manipulate policy via politicians and messaging to enrich big industry. Personally, I believe the deep state conspired to oust Trump. Not in a behind closed doors, illuminati way, but in a way that naturally occurred out of mutual self-interest. I plan to make a thread about it, that only works in conjunction with this thread. Journalism is dead. Democracy is dead. Justice is dying, but the elite are immune to it.

In America, that corruption began to rear it's head in the 60's. Eisenhower's speech was in 61, I believe, so our messages are jiving. The thing about America that makes it great is that it was born out of a desire to keep the government free from corruption, but we keep taking away the provisions that safeguard the people. We keep giving more and more power to the President, which, ultimately, puts more power in the hands of the deep state, which puts more power in the hands of these big industries. It's a terrible arrangement. Progressives are using that to usher in a change of government, and it won't turn out well for us, because there is zero attempt to root out corruption.

As for the other stuff, I'd be willing to bet there are elements of truth to the tales. However, that doesn't matter, because the stories represent what people fear. It doesn't matter if elites are in back rooms, drinking the blood of children, because the story represents what people fear: Certain people have too much power, and they fear the outcome will be a world that is less kind to their children. If the common person on both sides would pay attention to the other, you'd find they fear the same thing. Instead, the elites play us against one another and get richer because of it.
