The article gave me mixed feelings.

On one hand, Trevor is the no doubt #1 pick and I can’t wait for him to be a Jag.

On the other hand, a lot of the greats had chips on their shoulder that pushed them. Jordan manufactured his sometimes but he always had something to prove. Brady still has the chip on his shoulder from being a 6th rounder.

Ever since he first threw a football, people have had all kinds of lofty expectations of him, and he's lived up to them all.

Whenever he has joined a football team, he ascended to starter in relatively short time and excelled.

How many detractors has he really had?

When has he HAD to develop a chip on his shoulder?  Why would he?  Jordan got cut by his 9th grade (?) basketball coach.  Brady was a part time starter at Michigan and wasn't drafted until the 199th pick in the draft.  MJD wore 32 because 32 teams passed him in the first round.  They had reasons to have chips on their shoulders.

To me, TL has had high expectations placed on him, and for the most part, he's lived up to them.  That has left him with few detractors, thus little reason to have a chip on his shoulders.

Him not having a chip on his shoulder didn't prevent him from being very competitive on the college level.  If he contrived it, players would see right through him, and he wouldn't be the leader that most view him as, which would diminish his worth as a QB prospect.
