Is this a big deal? Let's put it this way: Bridgewater isn't getting drafted for his long-sprint speed. He's a good athlete and can move around the pocket, but he's not really a scrambler, so the number he would have posted likely isn't going to move the dial much.


But from a competitive and accountability standpoint, it's disappointing. Four times in his media session on Saturday, Bridgewater called himself "just a competitor," but this is one competition he chose to sit out.

 

Bridgewater is looking more and more like a back-up NFL quarterback by the day. If he thinks the pressure to compete at the NFL Scouting Combine is too great, he's not going to make it on his own as a starter. His agent can't hold his hand on Sunday.

Exactly.  That is why if Bortles is gone to Houston at #1 (which looking more and more likely), and somebody then takes Clowney at #2, I think the Jags might go with Mack.  He will soon be rated as the next best player after the two OT's (which we don't need).  I don't think Manzeil is even on the radar at #3 for Caldwell for some reason.  Sammy Watkins comes into play there, but I don't know how much Caldwell will weigh in the strong depth of the WR's in this class.  We could get one later if he feels Blackmon will not be back or can't be depended on.

 

Look at the quotes from Caldwell referring to an unnamed player he was raving about while watching film with Pete Prisco.  "

"He's a hard charger."

"He plays his [BLEEP] off."

"He has a ruggedness about him."

"Watch those feet".

 

He sure as heck is not talking about Bridgewater there.  Sounds like Mack to me, but it doesn't really mean a lot, I know.
