I like the way that they are developing characters now. Toward the end of last season they'd introduce new people and kill them off within 2-3 shows. There was no attachment to them, they didn't develop. They're starting to do that again.

Eugene is said to have worked on the project that lead to the outbreak, so he claims to know about the backstory/science behind it, and is wanting to find others who may have worked on it, too (or perhaps even find a regional CDC building if still standing/accessible.)

 

It's also interesting to see the divided pockets of survivor forming/joining new groups, and how they cope under new leadership... and interesting to consider what might happen if said groups ever meet up.

 

That's been explored a little already, but with the prison family shattered into so many parts the proverbial dam has been broken on that theme.

 

Once again, they are hammering away at the theme that coping with the people is much more complicated than coping with the biters/walkers/roamers.
