I think the point of the vax is to lessen the effects of the virus if you get it, just like the flu. Not eliminate it.

On the other hand, 99.4% of people who get the virus hardly get sick or are asymptomatic so your question of why get the vaccine is absolutely a valid one.

The Flu Shot eliminates the flu in 60% of adults. For those who still catch the flu the vaccine is shown to lessen the severity of the symptoms. The point of the vaccine is to prevent it, not lessen the symptoms, that's an ancillary effect. And you get the vaccine because humans are disgusting disease vectors who are passing around a preventable virus that's killed 2% of the people who become ill from it.
