I think both gained some ground.  I'm still not comfortable on taking a QB at #3, either but I'm not a GM or scout.  Like you said, Caldwell may surprise us.  I think McCarron did well enough to earn second round consideration.  His resume is solid (even rare,) and I don't feel he's the typical Alabama QB.

 

Mayock made a comment that struck me re: the guys that decided not to throw.  He said what was important in the passing drills was that they showed the timing and zip, and that scouts weren't concerned whether or not the pass was caught/dropped.  I'd never looked at it that way, but it makes perfect sense.  The drill is for the QB, not the receiver (who may not necessarily be doing his job correctly anyway, he could be considered the lineman's version of a blocking dummy for the drill's purpose as all eyes are on the QB.)
