Winger were fantastic musicians - a lot better than just about any of those popular bands of the time - and thats the point I was trying to explain. Winger is a punch line for so many, and yet, talent-wise, they were pretty darn good. I think every one of them were virtuoso level musicians and had background in classical/ jazz/ fusion etc. I've never understood why Winger was the band picked by so many to mock. There were so many untalented hair bands in the '80s to pick from, but somehow people picked the band that actually had good musicians. I have a feeling they're just aping the Bevis And Butthead bit. |
