I used to be a real "techie geeky" guy, but I saw a long time ago how it could/would be used for really bad purposes.  It's not the fact that "smart" devices are a haven for hackers that have malicious intent, it's more the fact that some of the greatest hackers work for the government.

People have gotten really lazy.  Why get up off of your fat [BLEEP] to turn the lights on or adjust the thermostat in your home?  You can simply tell "Alexa" or some other "smart" device to do it.  Why drive your car when you can have a "self-driving" car?  Why bother to take a bit of time to vacuum your home when you can have a robot that does it for you and on top of that tell "Alexa" to start the robot?

I can understand the novelty of having such devices, but at this point people know what you are doing.  Knowledge is power.
