Also, please factor in the Penguins sold out every game (42 games @ 18,000 attendence) and the Pirates averaged 25,000 in attendance (80 games)  .  THAT'S 2.7million additional tickets sold for both hockey and baseball.  --- there's only so much disposable income for sports

 

Again, that fee is assessed after some 80 years in the market and an extraordinary level of success over the last 40 years.  Most living Steelers fans can not fathom a less than respectable Steelers team the way the Jaguars had in 2012 and the first part of 2013.

 

As for the other sports, BFD.

 

Nobody forces Pittsburghers to shell out their bucks for obviously inferior sports like baseball, just like nobody forces Jaguars fans to go to the beach during football season.

 

At the end of the day, Jaguars fans outdrew the Steelers despite having nowhere near as presentable a product and nowhere near as much time to establish market presence.
