The analogy illustrates that the demand for one product suffers when other quality products are offered (e.g. Penguins & Pirates).  People are more likely to buy a higher quantity of items of lesser quality if they can get it at a much cheaper price (Jags tickets)

So more likely,not guaranteed...right? Just because an inferior product is sold at a lower price does not mean it will outsell the competition based solely on that lower price. Yugos were infinitely cheaper than Mercedes Benz when Yugos were in the U.S. auto market. By your rationale Yugo should be thriving to this day in the U.S., solely due to price, and outselling Mercedes. Yet you don't need to be an econ major to know a product of sufficiently poor quality will not sell well in a given market. You cited the comparative ticket prices, both primary and secondary markets between the Steelers and Jaguars. You beat your chest over the disparate pricing, yet are completely silent on the issue of comparative quality. That's a spectacularly disingenuous argument.
