I dismiss the poll as being too broad of a stroke to tell us anything discernible. It's designed to roil conservatives by trotting out a bad word like "socialism" and assigning a number to it that is misleading. 

The general question of whether one has a favorable opinion on the concept of capitalism or socialism does so little to inform. 

Do you think that the vast majority of democrats saying they have a favorable opinion of socialism mean that they want the US to be a purely socialist country?  Or that they lean toward more socialist style policies than some that are currently in place? 

I think it's the latter and I think it's nothing new, it's just a bit more polarized at the moment for reasons you don't need me to list.
