I honestly don't know. I cannot answer that question, because I have no idea how a Trump administration would've handled it. Based on how he handled many other issues during his time in office, I highly doubt he would've done a whole lot better. I can't see him giving citizenship to a bunch of foreign interpreters from the middle east, even if it was promised to them.

Paraphrasing the details here but....

Trump had a plan that included steps and actions to be taken that would have the Taliban and Afghan government partnered together (for lack of better words) to run the country. Approximately 800 of our SpecOps and CIA would remain to run a unit to keep everyone in check. Not perfect but better than the current situation which anyone with half a brain could see coming if a plan wasn't in place. Biden took a dump on all of it and you see the end result. The Taliban figured if we didn't keep our end of the deal why should they.

Trump is a blow hard and I don't care for him as a person, at all, but he's no pushover and he says what he means. That's who you want in your corner when making these deals because the other party doesn't know how to bully that kind of personality and they're not sure how crazy he really is. Not ideal but we're not dealing with rational people in the Taliban.
