The right can't continue to check themselves with out a redirect from the left. I think the sentiment on the right is that the left is allowed to have a double standard, which gives them a leg up in almost every way. Why should the right be principled if the left won't? We have to walk that line between holding ourselves to a standard while demanding the left do the same. If not, we may as well just duke it out. The erosions of the standards is my biggest fear. I think it's more likely to become entrenched if it's a slow, evolving process.

Popular belief evolves as well. Even though it can be arduous and disheartening at times, sticking to the high ground is always the best policy and the one which pays off in the end. For example, look at the MSM. While they are part and parcel of the left, their credibility continues to wane. Biden and company, along with their suffering PR wing (MSM) are demonstrating exactly why corrupted standards are only good for temporary gain. To wit: Defund the Police advocates calling 911 for help. People may rail against the system, but they always flock to abiding standards.
