Even though Dallas sat their starters, it was very nice to see what Lawrence can do when he actually has time to throw. It was amazing to watch. This is the kind of performance we normally see from the opposing team's QB. It doesn't seem real that he actually plays for us. Yes, he had time to throw, but lets keep in mind that the Cowboys have a terrible pass rush and they were also Dallas' backups. This O-Line has a long way to go before I'm comfortable with this offense. We must protect Trevor at all cost.
4. Pharoah Cooper really impressed me. I like this kid and like you, I believe when you watch him play, he is much better than Dorsett. To me, this is a no-brainer. The problem is that all Meyer seems to care about is speed. Cooper ran a 4.65/40 at his pro day and Dorsett is known for his speed, so Cooper probably doesn't stick even though he has much better hands and route running ability imo.
7a. Lawrence is the priority. We know what he can do, he showed it today. He can take this team to the next level and beyond, but he's gonna need protection, no excuses. I'm hoping a decent OT gets cut by Tuesday and we can get some relief, but that's not likely. I'm really praying we go all in for a free agent OT like Terron Armstead. Having him and a hopefully, much improved Walker Little in 2022, would greatly help out Trevor Lawrence. I just don't like this next draft class of OT's at all.
7b. DNP
7c. DNP
7d. Little played much better than last week, but he played lesser competition as well. In any case, I just wanna see progression from him. He must step up, because we need him in the starting lineup asap.
7e. He's secure. I really like what I've seen from him so far. I believe he should be pushing for a starting spot, no later than week 5, hopefully sooner.
7f. He's definitely flashed. I'm pretty sure he makes the team as well. He should give us solid depth along the D-Line.
7g. I didn't notice him at all. I think he makes the team, because we are so thin at OLB. It's very concerning that our first team defense is getting little to no penetration so far, even on blitzes. I know Allen hasn't played, but he should not be expected to be a "one man show." I'm starting to get really worried that we will be a team who is known for stopping the run, but we will also be known for having no pass rush. I guess we will find out very soon.
7h. I believe he might be a candidate for the PS. Something tells me we are gonna add a TE after final cuts. I'm really looking heavily at the Dolphins. They are loaded at TE and unless they keep a ton of them, someone pretty decent is gonna get cut. We could use an athletic, pass catching TE.
7i. I didn't notice him at all. Probably won't make the final cut.
8. I like Treadwell and Cooper much more than I like Dorsett, but with Meyer's emphasis on speed and nothing else, I believe Dorsett gets the final WR position. Cotton is hit and miss for me. He'll make a highlight catch and then turn around and drop an easy pass. He'd be an interesting candidate for the PS. I think he has potential. He just needs to work on his hands. I believe Ozigbo gets the 3rd RB spot, but don't rule out us bringing in a new guy after the final cuts. If Meyer sees a speed back on the waiver wire that he thinks can fill the role Etienne was supposed to fill, I can see this happening.
9. Agreed. I believe we will be adding another TE. We have to. We just lack too much talent at the position.
10. Do I like our backup situation? Not particularly, but they are backups for a reason. Not every team can have a borderline starter as their backup QB like Trubisky is in Buffalo. Hopefully, Beathard and Luton never see the field for us and Lawrence has a great year. I'm just happy we got something for Minshew. He was not progressing at all, but he was a fun character and he made it easy to root for him. I wish him well.
11. I don't know, I see quite a bit of hype by the national media. It's nice for a change. I'm not used to this feeling. They usually dump all over us.
12. Agreed, although I don't know if a healthy O-Line will make much difference. We just lack talent and that likely won't change, at least this year. As long as Trevor stays healthy, that's all I ask.
2. Agreed that this is hardly a convincing sign of improvement from the OL, but at this point, I will take whatever improvement we can get.
4. I remember an earlier UM quote talking about how fast players get from point A to point B...but not necessarily talking about stopwatch speed. If he was being truthful there, Cooper gets the spot over Dorsett. Despite being here a limited amount of time, he has been far more productive, versatile and consistent than Dorsett, though I give kudos to Dorsett for a nice catch on the bomb down the right sideline.
7a. I am not holding out any hope that Terron Armstead will end up here. If a 30 something Trent Williams commanded what he did, what will a 31 year old next july Armstead command...even if he's allowed to hit the open market? The only way I see that happening is with a complete and catastrophic collapse by the Saints as a whole, and I think their roster as currently constructed is way too talented for that.
7d. I think all the reps he got today had to help his development some. TBH, I think I could see him as a starting RT as soon as weeks 3-4. I see Taylor being absolutely no match for Von Miller (even coming off injury) or Chandler Jones in weeks 2-3. After a disastrous start or two, I could see Meyer wanting him in the lineup over Taylor.
7g. (J. Smith) What makes me uncertain about Smith making the roster is uncertainty about where they will play Ward. Ward is listed as a DL, but every time I've seen him, he has been in a 2 point stance. If he is playing OLB/edge rusher, we'd have four: Allen, Chaisson, Smoot and Ward. I'm not sure the team will need 5 edge rushers. If not, then it would become a matter of whether the team would think they could keep him on the practice squad without him being poached from another team.
8. My thing is I have seen treadwell and Cooper contribute on offense as well as special teams. I haven't seen Dorsett contribute much offensively or special teams. As far as Cotton goes, aside from that one drop last week, he's been very good. He has gotten open-vertical and underneath- and caught the ball well.

Overall great game by all. And congratulations Trevor and Urban for first NFL win. Very succinctly put.
We DID win in all three phases of the game.

What i witnessed is we had and dallas had 3 olinemen out thats starting linemen.. we were without etienne they were without elliot we had lawrence they didnt have prescott.. other than our defense was there they 6 starters hurt or out today.. especially at dallas's home i would say we just dominated more than it was beacuse of injuries or other thngs im just saying cant say njuries or guys hurt cuz t was the same both was as far as guys hurt or guys out we just opened up a can of kick there but thats all..
Dallas also helth their top 3 WRs out. This three week preseason will take some adjustment. Harder to get a read on things now.
we had chark and jones out also think lawrence has a better arm than prescott and we have a better defnse rush especially..
