It's not like they broke the bank for CJB, and because Minshew was still on his first contract, now was the perfect time to hash out your prospects at backup. I fully believe that had Minshew outshined CJB, we'd have parted ways with him instead. No conspiracy (sorry to disappoint). Either one was affordable enough that you can either trade away for a ham sandwich, conditionally for one without crusts or maybe with mayo, and if nobody bites, you can release them without crippling your roster or cap.
