We didn't lose the "war" in Afghanistan because we never were at war with them.  Our mission was to destroy Al Qaeda and to get Osama bin Laden.  Part of that involved fighting the Taliban since they harbored him and his ilk.  We accomplished the mission.

The problem is leaving the region was all done wrong.  There was a clear plan in place that the current regime chose to ignore and do it by September 11 solely for political reasons.  Thus what the puppet that you voted for got us to this.
