150 U.S. Military working dogs abandoned at Kabul Airport as last plane leaves…
|
I am relieved to say that the Pentagon has debunked the notion that there were any military animals left behind. The animals at the airport were under the care of the Kubul Small Animal Rescue Organization and were mainly street dogs that they were trying to find homes for out of the country. While this is sad, it's nowhere as upsetting as the notion that we would our own military animals behind, which we now know we didn't. I was hoping we learned our lesson from Viet Nam, when we did indeed abandon military dogs. It was a terrible look for this country and and got us a lot of bad press at the time. Hopefully, this is never repeated.

If the original story was true, which it wasn't, they weren't just dogs, they were soldiers, just like a police dog is considered a cop. These animals do their jobs and in many cases save human lives while risking their own. Remember the phrase, "no soldier left behind?" That applies to military dogs as well. |
