Kelce is very good, and very important to that OL. His contract will likely look like a bargain 3 years into it. Thats what the Eagles are known for since the Reid era. Identifying and signing the players they target as their "core" guys as early as possible, so they can get them to sign contracts that may "appear" expensive at the moment but usually wind up favoring the team in the long run. The Peters contract is essentially a 2 year deal. (meaning they can escape it with minimal impact after 2 years). Cooper seems like a lot of money, but I guess you missed the chemistry he seemed to have with their current QB, Foles. I think all 3 of those deals favor the team (over the player) or will in the long run. 

 

Were there misses like Casey? Sure, but those deals weren't giant money long term deals anyway. What team doesn't have a few misses? 

 

The Eagles organization has not been as successful as it has been since 1999 because they "don't know what their doing". Their mgmt is indeed "shrewd". Sometimes too much so, that the player feels screwed over with signer's remorse. 

 

I commend Maclin for not caving.
