Talk about trying to get too cute... Jesus.

Meh, if the play works as designed it was a good play and a good call.  Unfortunately a player like JJ Watt doesn't do what is "expected".

From what I understand, a rushing defender will turn away from the "flow" of a running play to come around to the back side.  JJ Watt just didn't turn away and made a good play.

Sitting back and looking at it after the fact, Trevor Lawrence just made a horrible throw.

There's even more to it that we won't know especially from the Cardinals end of things. Was Watt supposed to crash inside, clog the interior space, stunt outwards, etc etc?

The problem is that we introduced a clear and straight lane to our QB with the Norwell twirl. What really makes it boneheaded in my opinion is that this was conducted on a flea-flicker, which naturally takes longer to develop as we all know. If Norwell remained forward-facing he could have granted Lawrence the extra second needed to get the ball to Chark just by simply getting in Watt's path - even in a standard developing flea-flicker play.

Hindsight is 20/20, but having Norwell spin and lose vision on rushing defenders is generally not a good idea, especially in the NFL.
