Yep, the timing of this reeks of desperation to shift the press. 

If anything, it serves to be more suspicious when they decide to retire the number of a great player like Taylor randomly in the middle of the season on a Thursday in October.

I bet some of these owners and executives are doing everything in their power right now to prevent the impending flood gates of incrimination from opening.

With the St.Louis lawsuit against the NFL hanging over the NFL, this by itself is reason for the NFL owners and the higher ups in the NFL League Office to have plenty to be concerned about regarding the WFT emails.  Unlike Spygate,  the Commissioner is not going to be able to destroy evidence in these emails.
