One thing I was a little confused about was the charges of felony murder and murder with malice. maybe someone on here can answer this , but what are those in relation to first and second-degree murder? I guess I’ve  never heard those charges worded exactly that way. And seeing as how it was one person was killed how do you get three charges of felony murder? Probably a simple explanation but again I just haven’t heard it worded in that manner.

The reason for the 4 counts of murder is because in Georgia you catch a murder charge for every felony crime committed leading up to the actual murder. So the false imprisonment, 2 counts of aggravated assault,  and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment all have felony murder attached because all of the felonies lead to the murder. Worse for them, since they have all been convicted of murder, according to Georgia’s minimum mandatory laws they face a minimum of 30 years before they’re able to be paroled.

I haven't looked at false imprisonment law in GA but from a common sense standpoint it makes no sense. He was never trapped, never even had to leave the road. He could have easily run off the road to get away. His path wasn't blocked either.

I know DAs over charge and the laws are written strangely though so maybe something fit the wording.
