THE Brian Daboll who put up 6 pts against our garbage team with a top 5 QB? lol alright.
Yes. Absolutely. You don't let one game determine someone's full body of work. Especially at this level. Buffalo still has the 2nd best offense in the NFL right now. They're still a 7 - 4 team with his play calling. He's done a great job with Josh Allen's development over these past four years. He's had this kid in the MVP conversation two years in a row. He's also not handcuffing him in the running game department. Something this current staff should take note of in regards with Lawrence.
The same progression and success that these coaches like Daboll, Roman and Moore are having with Allen, Jackson and Prescott are the same traits that made Bruce Arians a household name after he took a top tier talent in Roethlisberger and Luck and elevated their level of play. This is the same type of coach that made a beat up, over the hill Carson Palmer look decent out in Arizona for a few years.
You cannot deny the fact that Lawrence has a ton of potential. The coaching staff simply is not here to tap into it. It's the same issues that held back Byron Leftwich, David Garrard, Blaine Gabbert, Blake Bortles & Gardner Minshew. This franchise has historically been behind the times or 8-ball in the modern advancement and overall progressive development of athletic QB's when they've had their hands on one.
It's true. This team has lacked a ton of talent for years now. Haven't had a true QB since Mark Brunell. Haven't had a true number one receiver since Jimmy Smith. Haven't had a really viable TE since one fluke season with Marcedes Lewis where a lot of fans would dare to argue that Kyle Brady was the better TE or even Pete Mitchell considering the eras they played in.
Khan needs to make a decision quickly here. Daboll would easily be a top two candidate on my potential new hire list. You watch though. They'll screw around and give Meyer another year, just like they did Marrone, and they'll blunder another opportunity to get an offensive minded headcoach like they did when Stefanski ended up in Cleveland and they'll be sorry.
Daboll will end up somewhere like Chicago or New York in the off season and get the most out of Justin Fields or Daniel Jones offensively and have them in a play-off discussion or showing significant steps forward development wise while we're over here watching this team under Meyer's "leadership" trying to figure out this team's identity on offense still in week 10 of next year.
