Hypothetical: Khan fires Meyer

We've doubled our win total. Let's just keep Meyer and maybe we'll be a good team by 2030. Whether or not we are worse is debateable. One could argue that we have won one more game this year, but one could also argue that we've been less competitive in our losses. Last year, we lost a game in overtime. How many games have we lost in overtime this year? Zero. Last year, we lost 4 games by three points or less. This year, only 1 game. However, this misses the point. The question isn't whether the team has made progress, it is whether the team has made significant progress. The Jaguars had 5 draft picks in the top 65, extra late round picks, the top option on the waiver wire, and more salary cap room than any other team in the NFL. Significant progress was the expectation. Meyer clearly didn't come even remotely close. Again, I ask, if we lose the rest of our games this year and then go 3-14 next year, are you happy with Meyer's performance because we have made "progress"? |
