Weekly Mock

#9

Quote:As for the mock, I don't agree with all the picks, but it is interesting.  I enjoyed reading your commentary.

To nitpick with my opinion:  Atlanta already has a TE to take the place of Gonzalez, the 6'8" Levine Toilolo.  Plus, Ebron's stock has dropped I believe.  IMO, there's no way the Falcons don't run up to the podium with "Jake Matthews" on the card in the scenario. For Tampa, I know DT Aaron Donald has risen up the boards, but I will be surprised if he goes that high.  He will be far from BAP there, and Tampa has a few other needs that will mirror the talent available a little better. I could see them taking QB Blake Bortles if he fell to them and K-Mack is off the board. I can't see Pittsburgh taking Benjamin over some of the over higher rated WR's there just to get a guy that is built like Plaxico Burress, but you never know. I'd think they'd take Ha-ha at Safety.

I also see New Orleans taking a WR in the 1st, and it would be cool if home-state LSU's Beckham fell to them.  Carr paired with Watkins and Gordon in Cleveland would be fun to watch.

Thanks I appreciate your feedback, I can definitely see Atlanta taking OT, that position is so deep it wouldn't surprise me if they went in another direction. I watched Levine Toilolo in a few games last year, and while I think he could develop into a solid red zone target, I don't believe he has the type of quick twitch athleticism required to be an impact player in the NFL. I could be wrong, but I think he's more of a 2nd tight end (a blocking tight end) rather than a receiving threat. I agree with your sentiment on Kelvin Benjamin, I believe he'll get over drafted as teams are looking for the next "Alshon Jeffery", Benjamin has boom or bust written all over him. It's been rumored that Ben Roethlisberger wants bigger receivers, that's why I mocked him there; Mike Evans should be off the board at that point. As far as Aaron Donald goes, he dominated the regular season, he dominated the senior bowl, and he dominated the combine, I think he offers incredible upside, he's more athletic than Geno Atkins with the strength of N. Suh, he might be the BAP at that point in the draft, only time will tell.
