I'd the last one to defend Gene Smith, but I have to look at the reality. The reality is that from the 2009 draft Monroe and Knighton are NFL starters, and Jennings, Underwood and probably Cox are still decent backups. From 2007 Nelson is a starter, and Podlesh and Nwaneri will probably sign with some team. I'm not sure about Durant but he played in Dallas last year. I think Groves and Karim are still in the NFL too.

Just because a player is no longer on the team does not mean that he was a bad pick. Some of it is about how well a player fits a scheme, and with two recent coaching changes some viable players no longer fit on the Jags roster.
