What are your thoughts on a strong third party? I only ask because I tend to feel compelled to rile up those who lean left or right in particular. I have a hard time trusting either side. Feels like a Plutocracy in this country more than an actual Democracy.

I would never vote for a Democrat or a Republican.
It's an absolute waste of my time, but if you don't do it, people will just give you that terrible fake trope. "If you don't vote, can't complain". 
So I %100 agree with a fourth, fifth party.  The idea that these 2 people are even remotely the best option is silly. 
Most of the opinions that say otherwise come  from people who are trying to keep one of those 2 parties in power.
