I still have no doubts that if we don't get screwed by the Refs in that Championship game, that we would have beat the Eagles in the Bowl 100%.

Either way though, I don't think the Eagles would have lost LII regardless of who the opponent from the AFCCG was. I'm obviously biased, but I was supremely confident that 2017 was 'my year' (yes, mine) from the point where the Eagles kicked the 61 yard FG to beat the Giants, onward. Even after Wentz went down, I had 100% faith and confidence in Nick Foles taking the Eagles on a run that would lead all the way to the "Rocky Steps", and I'm not just saying that 'after the fact'. Members on the EMB can fully attest to that lol.

But I'd hope that Jags fans don't hold on to a play of that sort, the way sad Cowboys fans hold on to the Dez Bryant incompletion. Every team, every year has plays that get called in such a way that you can say it was a bad call or a play that you say 'what if'. What if Randall Cunningham doesn't get hit directly on his knee by Bryce Paup, in the 1991 opener vs. the Packers?

1991 was arguably that eras Eagles best shot at getting to and potentially winning a Lombardi. They had one of the greatest D's of all time, a QB who could pass and run (when properly coached) and a good run game. But first play of the 2nd quarter of the first game of the season, Cunningham gets his knee blown out by a helmet hitting directly on it and the season is lost. But despite having to use 5 different starting QB's throughout that season, they still finished 10-6. A lot of Eagles fans have held on to that 'what if' for a lot of years. It's meaningless, though.

"What if's", never were.

If the play was called correctly, more than likely the Jags would have played your Eagles.  I’m in the minority in thinking that Philly would have still won.  We had a good D. But the Goats have a nice record in the SB.  Anyone that can knock them out clearly deserves it.  I do not believe Marrone/Bortles Could or would have beaten you guys.  Perhaps, the Jaguars just conditioned me into being let down.  Congrats on the SB from a Philly native.

I’ve got optimism that Pederson will help turn the ship around.  Hopefully we can turn into a respectable team.

Welcome to the board, it’s always nice to hear @the other side”.  Sounds like we’re in good hands finally.

Thanks for the welcome. I actually joined back when you all signed Nick, I was hoping he'd succeed. I've been a big fan of his ever since his first game with the Eagles. Having the 2017 playoffs go down the way they did were perfect (for Nick Foles fans). It definitely sucked for Wentz, he was having a career year. But if I could turn back the clock and switch QBs for that post season, I wouldn't. It played out 100% perfectly with Nick.

I honestly don't remember the play in question with the Jags. As you can imagine, I was focused 100% on the Eagles and all other teams just didn't matter to me and again, to be perfectly honest... I'm happy that the Jags didn't get to LII. Not for fear of having lost to them, but I wanted the Eagles to avenge Super Bowl XXXIX and beat the Patriots. Any Super Bowl win would be 100% ok, of course. But beating Brady and the Patriots... with Nick Foles, was a beautiful dream.

There's teams that I never want to see win the Super Bowl (again). Mainly the Giants, Cowboys and Redskins.... err... whatever their name is now. Mostly the Cowboys, though. For all other franchises, especially those that have never won one, I hope you get to experience it. As long as it isn't against the Eagles, of course lol. But it's an experience that all fans need to live through. Especially 'long suffering' fans.

Can Doug do it for you? We'll see. But I really wasn't in favor of him being fired in Philly. Doug's a great presence in the facility, a calming presence (from what I'd read when he got to Philly in 2016). He just needs to run a balanced offense on gameday, and if he can lean more heavily on the run, all the better. But he likes to PASS, PASS, PASS... if he gets his own way and that can be really frustrating.

Early in the 2017 season, he lost to the Chiefs which made the team almost revolt because of the imbalanced offense. He passed 46 times with only 17 runs. The worst part of that? The run game that day was averaging 6.3 yards per carry. SO freaking frustrating! lol It paid off in the end, though. He learned (for that season), that he had to balance things out more.
