They have video of the whole 20 minutes he was inside and it doesn't show him doing anything disruptive. He didn't damage anything, didn't steal anything, didn't even run inside the building. The video of his entrance is also timed at more than half an hour after Congress had adjourned, so how did his presence inside disrupt their proceeding? Basically the entire criminal filing is, according to the persecutors, an "attempt to deter domestic terrorism", the domestic terrorism of protesting your government from the wrong side of the aisle, and that makes this a political persecution.

He pleaded guilty.

Now, are you saying he did not see people fighting with the police?  140 police officers were injured in the riot.  Did he not understand that he was trespassing?  Was he not there with the purpose of disrupting a government proceeding by force?

You also say, "The video of his entrance is also timed at more than half an hour after Congress had adjourned, so how did his presence inside disrupt their proceeding?"  Are you saying the proceeding was over, and that Congress had all gone home?  That isn't true.  The rioters stopped the Congress in the middle of certifying the election.  They were adjourned for more than 6 hours while order was restored and the place was cleaned up.  You make it sound like he just walked in as a tourist, when the facts, and his signed confession, show that he knew what he was doing.  Read it:

He also says in his confession that at one point, he became frustrated and, using a metal pole, in his words, "tapped on a window of the Capitol building."  Tapped?  Really?

Oh wow, a signed confession from a political prisoner. Color me impressed.
