Even your tickets, though unfortunately you weren't able to sell, counted towards those figures. With a new head coach in place and a developing QB, fresh excitement will be generated and attendance will likely remain stable or increase.

If the number were significant you'd know the difference between sales and attendance is made clear win this team is actually winning. 

They might sell 58000 in a down year - but what shows up at the stadium (and on the national broadcast cameras) is the 35000 that actually stick it out for a dismal product. Many times with 10K or more there supporting the opponent. 

In a year like 2017 - those 65000 seats sold actually end up as 65000 butts in seats and 60000 of them wearing black and teal. 

If selling 58000 seats while only filling 2/3 of them is copacetic to you then you and I fan differently. 
I've been in that stadium for playoff games or games with playoff implications several times and I much prefer that to this current horse [BLEEP].

I went to the games last year, and I think at most of them we were only actually filling 1/3 of the seats, if that much.  Sometimes, it looked like the 4th quarter of a preseason game.  The upper decks across from me were almost empty, and the lower level seats were very sparse, mostly empty seats.  

The last game of the season really surprised me, though.  For some unknown reason, a lot of fans showed up for that one.  

Also, I don't know if they report tickets sold or tickets distributed.  Tickets distributed would be tickets sold plus tickets given away.
