Jaguars linked to Amari Cooper trade (speculation)

This past season in Dallas, Ceedee Lamb was a tremendous WR, and caught about 80 balls for 1100 yards.  Gallup and Wilson combined for about 80 balls and over 1000 yards.  Schultz caught about 80 balls for 800 yards.  Cooper caught about 70 balls for 900 yards.  Dak Prescott and Kellen Moore liked to spread the ball around to different targets.  On the Jag's team, being the clear alpha, I could envision Cooper putting up numbers to easily justify a salary in the $15-17m per year range.

If Dallas does let him go, and assume the Jags want him, they would be competing against numerous other teams for his services, and likely would have to pay a premium (I doubt Jags would be his first choice of his options) and a sizeable upfront signing bonus.  Just throwing it out there for thoughts, assuming you would want him in teal....would it be advantageous to give the Cowboys a late round pick to obtain Amari for sure.  The Jags would obtain his remaining 3 years deal ($20m per year), which is likely about $3m or so more than what he's worth, but would not have to pay any signing bonus (could cut him without dead cap if he underperforms).  With salaries moving up*, if he does excel as I think he would with Trevor, the other 2 years may be more palatable.  I am mentally torn on this one.

*Spotrac estimates free agents Davante Adams and Chris Godwin market values to be over $25m and $18m this next year.  Existing contracts are moving up Hopkins $27m, Jones $22m, Allen $20m....

I think if you trade for him, you run the risk of having a player who doesn't want to be here.

Interesting thought that had not crossed my mind.  I would think you could mitigate that by asking Dallas if you can speak with his agent before consummating a trade.  It's not tampering if they agree to it.
