How does the Vonate Davis trade look? Great! I doubt you'll find a Colts fan that isn't thrilled with that trade. VD was well worth a 2nd round pick. With that said, I'm not sure how I feel about the Richardson trade. I'm sure seeing Donald Brown completely whiff on a block on the 4th down play against Miami sealed the deal for the Colts. The goal is to protect Luck by 1) running effectively, 2) having a RB that is capable of pass protecting, and 3) using the RB as an outlet in the passing game. Richardson fits that mold pretty well, his salary is cheap (colts only pay base salary, cleveland pays prorated bonus), he's locked up for several years, and he's young + talented. He gives the team a pretty good set of skill players - Luck, TRich, Hilton, & Allen (whoever said Allen hadnt been impressive is more than wrong, and I think Fleener is about to step up) However, in general I don't like using a 1st for a RB and the Colts need help at OLine and LB. I can talk myself into it, but I don't really like the philosophy.
