(03-11-2022, 06:44 AM)The Real Marty Wrote: Rookie quarterbacks on bad teams almost always struggle, even the ones who are now in the Hall of Fame.  A lot of today's great QBs didn't even see the field in their rookie year.  Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes right off the top of my head didn't even play at all their rookie year.  I think Tom Brady hardly played at all his rookie year.  Others who did play struggled mightily and still wound up in the Hall of Fame.

But I have no doubt that last year's experience will serve Trevor well.  17 games of NFL experience will have taught him a lot.  He's seen NFL speed, NFL defensive backs, NFL pass rush, and he now knows what a bad pass route looks like, and he knows some of his own flaws.  And, he has tape of himself that he and his new coaches can study.

Of course, Trevor's "flaws" were magnified by the dysfunction around him, to the point where he deserves this re-boot with competent coaches and a better supporting cast.

As for the assertion that "The entire body of work on the other hand was bad for a 1st overall pick..." I think that's bull [BLEEP].  Go back and look at other QBs who were picked first overall.  The only one I can think of who had any success his rookie year was Andrew Luck, and he had a competent coaching staff and a much better team around him.

It's humorous. If anyone on this board has license to do some bragging about seeing a disaster coming it's me regarding Urban, but what would even be the point of trying to judge Trevor after what the team did to him last year?

He was like a diamond in a pile of [BLEEP]. If you couldn't see his luster it's because you don't understand how to view what he was doing. I see Trevor as having been failed by Khan, not as having failed the team.

In a few years Urban will look even worse when Trevor is tearing things up.
