What do the current WR look like since Kirk and Zay Jones signings?

#37

The current group of receivers is better than what they had last season- especially since Chark was out due to injury. If they lined up today, the group would consist of:

1. Christian Kirk - mostly in the slot.

2. Marvin Jones- outside possession receiver

3. Zay Jones- same as Marvin Jones.

4. Viska Shennault- back-up slot and occasionally used as a running back.

5. Laquon Treadwell- 3rd outside possession receiver

6. TBD- likely 2nd round draft pick

Obviously, the key to this group will be the player selected in the draft- likely in round 2. As has been noted, now that the Packers and Chiefs are likely to draft a receiver in round 1 the Jaguars will likely be left with the 7th or 8th receiver to be taken. Dotson, Watson and Pickens have commonly be mocked to the Jaguars at 33. Due to the blockbuster trades, only one of these should be available. My guess is that it will be George Pickens since Watson is one of the fastest risers since the Combine and Dotson is a much safer pick than Pickens. Pickens is going to be one of, if not the most discussed receivers in this draft. Some general managers will love him due to his size/speed ratio and toughness which was illustrated by how fast he returned from the ACL injury. Others will hate him due to his inconsistency and temperamental personality. If BaalkePederson are in the former group, I believe his name will be called with pick 33. We already know Baalke has an affinity for players with previous ACL's.

Since Pickens is such an unknown, it's impossible to determine how the Jaguars 2022-23 receivers group will perform as a whole. If Pickens stays healthy and improves his consistency, this group should be very exciting and productive. When one includes Evan Engram and Etienne as other receiving options, this group would be difficult for most defenses to contend with.
