You would be considering it a wasted the pick that could be used on more immediate needs if the expectation is that they will be buried on the depth chart due to what you did in FA.

I mean in the modern NFL you play 3 wide receivers as a base. Kirk is great, Marvin Jones is near the end of his career and needs to be replaced. Laviska Shenault is an enigma & we signed Zay Jones who's solid but not spectacular. I can easily see adding a guy to seamlessly take over for MJJ opposite Kirk. It depends on how they feel about the talent available outside of the first round; obviously there was a steep dropoff which is why they were so aggressive in free agency imho.

They aren't interested in replacing Marvin Jones yet. He was our best receiver. Shenault had a sophomore slump and is too talented to be given up on yet. Then you have Agnew and Treadwell who both developed nicely as the season progressed.

They obvious like Zay and expect more out of him than just solid. Don't confuse your opinion of a guy with that of the front office. They didn't give him that kind of contract with the intention of turning around and drafting his replacement.

They made their investment in the WRs in FA and obviously feel settled at that position going into the season.

If some of the receivers struggle this season, then next draft a WR would be a realistic option in the top part of the draft, but it makes no sense this year.

People seem to think drafting a WR in the top part of the draft is an automatic improvement, but that is just a fallacy. There will be multiple receivers taken early this year that won't pan out.
