You’re most likely right but my issue stems from maximizing Trevor while he’s on his rookie contract.

In 2 years, when the Jags (hopefully) accumulate offensive playmakers, Trevor will (hopefully) command a 300 million dollar contract.

And when he does it will be extremely important to have defensive stars on rookie deals to keep that side from cratering. Just look at the collapse of Seattle once Russ got paid. The legion of boom disintegrated and they haven't been the same since. (It wasn't because they lost their great DCs, I'll tell you that). You can see the same starting in KC, as the QB gets paid, the surrounding cast begins to part ways and the team is left to rebuild through the darft.
