A stat some may find interesting in regards to Walker v Hutch

"Walker played 200 snaps as a backup in 2020, per Pro Football Focus. He had 37 of his career 65 college tackles last season. As a junior, he played 381 snaps at defensive end, 105 at defensive tackle, 98 at linebacker, 11 at nose guard and one as a cornerback, according to the NFL Network."

Can't find his snap count as a freshman for whatever reason, but based on the stats above it's pretty safe to assume he's played close to half as much football as Aidan Hutchinson, And on top of that he was not rushing the passer 100% of the time like Aidan was.

Yet, 17.5 sacks in nearly 2,000 snaps is "production" whilst 9.5 in what I would assume to be somewhere in the range of 500-700 snaps of rushing the passer, presumably less than that even looking at how Georgia played defense is considered "not producing"

It took Aidan Hutchinson 22 games to get 3.5 sacks as a pure pass rushing DE. It took Travon 29 games to get 9.5, whilst being a backup in each of his first two seasons and only just this year being a starter whilst also not rushing the passer 100% of the time.

Hutchinson had one good year stats wise, How is this a sure fire pick? I think we made the correct choice here.

I don't think either was a sure fire pick. They both have/had their limitations. I think it came more down to ceiling vs. floor. I think Hutch can be very good in the right system and with some time to develop some technique. If he doesn't reach that potential, you still get a bulldog who's going to give 100% every down even if it's not yielding sacks or TFL.

With Walker, you're gambling on exactly what you stated - he's got experience all over the field, and not nearly the mileage that Hutch had. Does that mean he has unlockable superstar potential? We can only hope so. The trade-off though is that if he doesn't you're looking at a guy who may end up anywhere on the field trying to find a way to get him to produce.

I'm ok with the gamble, especially since there was no other sure-fire guy that we passed on to get him. Everyone at the top of this draft had a negative to accompany all the positive, and most will likely end up having lengthy careers in this league; I don't see Walker, Hutch, Ekwonu, Neal, Gardner, etc as a prime candidate to wash out. We really couldn't have gone wrong with any of them; take the guy with the biggest upside and hope you're right. Timidity gets you nothing as a GM.

This is kind of crazy.  Just hope all that diversity is because he was multi-talented and smart (to learn all of that) and not because he just wasn't good enough to hold down any single position (tweaner).

That said, now that we know he has CB experience, I say let's put him on Jamar Chase in the playoffs (Walker Island) --- we finally found our replacement for Jalen.  It's all coming together now.

His jam at the LOS would send Chase into the third row of the opposite end zone seats lol
