Rooting for the guy.  Would love to have the next Darren Waller on the club.  A weakness for so many years becomes a strength?

(emphasis added)

Under normal circumstances I would be incredulous over this, but then I realize you're a Tebow fan, and you guys still have shrines to him.

There is a WORLD of difference between this situation and Tebow.

First off, this guy is 22 and just out of college and has not even reached his athletic prime.  There is still a chance for him to get better and play the position for years to come.  Tebow was 34 last year, and hadn't played (failed at) ANY sport in YEARS.  Even assuming he could make the transition to TE, how long do you think he'd be able to play the position?

Secondly, this guy is 6-6 with a prototypical TE's build.  Tebow was barely 6-2 and built like a FB.
The experiment of former college basketball player turned successful NFL TE has been repeated with success numerous times.  Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, and even Marcus Pollard exemplify successful examples of college basketball players who have the physical/athletic overlap with the TE position to justify giving an experiment a legitimate shot.

Furthermore, Tebow had a few chances in the NFL to show what he could and could not do.  We all know or should know that Tebow got his shot to play QB and failed miserably.  He was given a few chances to catch the ball in the NFL and failed at that, too.  He was given a shot at minor league baseball...not out of his legitimate baseball skills, but as a cheap shot at selling tickets to Tebow cultists.  Finally, the Jaguars put the Tebow nightmarish experiment to an end when he was exposed for the world to see trying to block.  Even Urban Meyer had to end that eye rolling and embarrassing tryout.

Somehow, I have to think if Charles Schultz's Peanuts kids ever grew up, I'd have to think even Linus gave up his security blanket and, more importantly, abandoned his blind devotion to the Great Pumpkin after years and years of waiting in vain for him to show up in the pumpkin patch.  You'd think his parents, other responsible adults, and even his more sensible peers would eventually have been able to convince him to realize there's no need for the blanket and zero basis for belief in the Great Pumpkin, just like most sensible adults do not believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the tooth fairy.  Some Jaguars fans who have ostensibly abandoned their allegiance to the Jaguars for persistent failure, even though there is evidence this team has not only been competent, but actually contending.  Most of the key figures from the Jaguars last playoff team in2017 are still in the league, even if only Cam Robinson remains with the team.  Ramsey, Ngakoue, Campbell, Allen Robinson, and even Marcedes Lewis are still active.  Linder just retired this off season.  This year marks the 5th year removed from that team. But through the draft, we know there is a chance (no matter how remote it may seem with Baalke) the Jaguars may turn things around.  But Tebow fans are stubbornly, petulantly, and even blissfully unmoored by reality.  Tebow had a wildly successful college career which is now THIRTEEN (13) years in our rear view mirrors.  His initial run in the NFL was nowhere near as successful as his college career.  He failed as an NFL QB.  Teams experimented with him at FB and he failed at that.  His fame afforded him the chance at minor league baseball and he failed at that.  That was nearly a decade ago.  After years removed from competitive team sports, Urban Meyer, known as perhaps the WORST NFL head coach in history foolishly gave him a chance to play a position due to what he did in college some 13 years ago.  He was ill equipped to play because of his lack of experience at the position, his physical attributes, his age, his lack of skills and rust.  Tebow failed again.  Meyer is gone.  Tebow himself has moved on.  For [BLEEP]'s sake, please do the same!

Urban Meyer is long gone. He was responsible for the idiotic decision to sign Tebow and leaving the position group devoid of talent.

Pederson on the other hand has signed one of the top free agents at the position and brought in multiple UDFA players and tryout players. Bohannon is a tryout player not under contract.

You haven't heard media bad mouthing the move because he's a tryout player and because giving NCAA basketball players a shot at TE is now a decades old concept they've seen happen 3 dozen times.

Giving a failed NFL player coming off of a failed MLB attempt a shot to play football at all in the NFL fittingly drew criticism. It was insanely stupid.

LOL...Sorry to have hit a nerve.  It wasn't meant to be taken so seriously.  Just making a point that people like you and the media had a bone to pick with giving someone a change to improve the team at a position of need, even if the odds were long.

I don't expect the media to bad mouth the decision to give Bohannon a shot, nor should they.  It's a shot worth taking.  And the Jags will look like geniuses if he pans out.

Don't delude yourself even further.  It wasn't just the media who hated the move.

NFL players past and present hated the move.  Long time NFL fans hated the move.  The only people who liked the move were Tebow, Urban Meyer and Tebow cultists.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!
