Good to at least see baseball mentioned!

 

Perhaps the best way to judge a sport's popularity, at least in America, is by television coverage. Soccer, while becoming more popular, isn't very high profile on TV, although NBC and Fox are doing their best to make EPL available. MLS is a little harder to find.

 

MLB is everywhere, especially when you consider regional network coverage of "area" teams. It's cool to know someone in Jacksonville can see almost every Rays or Marlins games.

 

Final note - yes, World Series viewership numbers are down. Not so much the gross viewer numbers, but as a percentage of viewers (ratings). There are so many more viewing options now than there were when the World Series was pulling down great ratings. It'll be interesting to watch how the NFL's numbers are once they reach their goal of being on six days a week. College football is practically on five days a week now.

 

It's a different television universe than it was just a few years ago.
