I don't know we're going to see a full collapse. As long as the feds continue to implement modern monetary theory, we are going to see more and more reckless spending. If we do get a collapse, it will be everything, not just the university system, and there are vultures waiting at the door to destroy us. I hope I never see it come to that.

Yes, Direct Loans are the government loans program. The Universities don't loan the money, they just help students get them and the school manages the distribution of the proceeds. After school the government pays private loan servicing companies to manage repayment and collections. Private loans aren't included in the forgiveness program but borrowers can consolidate their private loans into the Direct program and be eligible for the forgiveness.
