I would have kept Minshew. Regardless of how the fanbase felt. The arm talent and overall athleticism is vastly different between the two of them though. Those are simply things you cannot teach. That was going to be Lawrence's competitive edge regardless of draft stock.

Minshew has a little bit of Tony Romo escape ability to his pocket awareness. He's not afraid to take hits in the pocket but he's not going to sit back and take it neither. He just doesn't have the strongest arm and that's why he'll be a back-up for the most part in his career. You really have to shorten the field with him. As he cannot make every throw.

If Hurts falters early it's very possible Minshew is given yet another opportunity to test his mettle as a starting quality QB. I hope he makes it. Here's the biggest takeaway for me though. Something Wolfie and a few other Minshew loyalists on here fail to call out.

It was Minshew's job to lose in 2020. He lost it. Think about that. He didn't do enough to prevent this team from landing the number one overall draft pick. He didn't do enough to elevate the same exact player personnel that Lawrence ultimately inherited, with a few minor differences in one off season. He also had a more competent coaching staff with NFL experience at his disposal.

So, for all of his TD's this, and INT ratio that? He wasn't good enough to fend off the wolves.
