Sounds about right. Called that out in this thread or a different thread. His mechanics were breaking down and getting sloppy and that can be attributed to getting his bell rung too many times. This is that give and take point I was getting at. The pass protection was struggling. Doug has to help him out there and go to the running game, incorporate a screen pass or two or a swing pass or two. Didn't see enough of that and it really could have helped. It's not like Etienne and Robinson were struggling to find daylight on the ground as well. As you pointed out yesterday. With 15 total combined touches on the ground they looked pretty damn good. They also both had some plays made or opportunities missed in the passing game. Little things I guess. But, the inability to step up into the pocket, not sliding around to an open throwing lane or doing back pedals didn't do him any favors. It's just tough for me to crucify him for everything. I can't. Being really, really, really nit picky after yesterday's game in a close contest. That's a good sign of the team improving and that's all that matters in my mind. Just have to refine those mechanics or at least work with the coaching staff to help balance the team out offensively. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king." |
