Economists have a lot of opinions on if the CFA Franc has been a good thing for the African countries that participate in it. And a lot of them agree with the Italians, who have been saying for years now that it's a big problem. The CFA Franc has been around since the 1940s so it's not Macron's fault at all. And to his credit Macron has said that the African countries need to take the lead if they want to change the system. The problem is that a lot of the elites in these African countries think they benefit from these policies. Makes it easier for them to fund their Swiss bank accounts... She's absolutely right that there needs to be a zero tolerance policy on refugee boats. The potential for shipwreck and drowning is way too high. It's similar to here, how we need to be more zero tolerance at our border. But also like here, the Eurozone does need African immigrants coming through the normal channels to supplement their low birth rates. West Africa is still having like 4 to 6 births per woman. A lot of those kids are going to start their lives in Africa and finish them elsewhere, it's inevitable. Meloni is fighting logic there and catering to racists as well. A lot of the people voting for her don't have any kind of nuanced opinion about economic growth or workforce size, they're just sick of seeing more and more black people in Italy. Let's hope she governs well.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.
