It's a common story in the NFL. Jackpots are rare. No deep threat, no ability to read. Two seasons and then a career backup.

This. This is my concern. This is why I get frustrated when somebody compares him to Josh Allen.

Josh struggled with the deep ball early in his career. However, this is where he separated himself. His unflenching mobility, willingness and toughness to run right at a defense and take the hits to keep the drive alive.

This is something Lawrence simply lacks in his game. Sure, he's athletic. He's just not Josh Allen level athletic, and, those extra 25 pounds make a difference.

Lawrence is a passer. We see it. He's had ample opportunities to just "go" and he doesn't do it. If he doesn't start hitting those deeper passes over the middle or on the boundaries this team is going to have to play perfect nearly every game.

He lacks those explosive plays. Where, if you blink on defense? You're back in the game within 4:00 - 5:00 minutes of play on offense. Last two weeks and the opener are showing he doesn't have "it" yet.

I don't know if he'll ever have 'it". You can tell Doug is trying though. He wants this to work. I think he's learned, politically, how to word and address these situations since the perceived issues that came out of Philadelphia with the Wentz and Foles situation.

The crazy part though? Doug has the advantage here. Time is on his side more than it is for Lawrence here. Pederson got it done with Wentz and Foles. Wentz has never been the same QB without Pederson. It's interesting. Going to be an interesting year.

You can argue this play call or that play call but when the ball is in your hands? And your getting opportunities to say with your talent "Hey, I am the BMOC around here, I deserved that tag, that title, that number one overall selection". You have to deliver. Last two games? He's fumbled the bag.

I don't think he has until next year. Not if he keeps playing like this on a consistent basis.
